The Creel - Scourie

The Creel is situated in the formidable and stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands, and was built by Lorraine Thomson and her partner in 2003 to capture the stunning views and wild atmosphere of the site. The Creel is a spacious and comfortable property, the undoubted highlight of which is the uninterrupted views over Scouriemore, Scourie Bay and Handa Island, all of which are places that perfectly reflect the untamed and unmodernised beauty of the north of Scotland. From the living room it is usually possible to spot a variety of wildlife without moving from the comfort of the couch: buzzards, deer, voles and stoats are just a few of the natives that you might encounter in the early morning sun.

Despite its remote looking location, there are a number of places and activities nearby to keep travellers occupied. Lorraine points out one highlight as being the range of stunning beaches accessible from the property, including Oldshoremore, where you can take a long walk along three stretches of sandy beach. Another highlight is the proximity to Handa Island, which is managed by the Scottish Trust as a nature reserve and is accessible by boat from nearby Tarbet. For those who like something a bit different there is the opportunity to explore the Smoo Cave system and the Bone Caves at Inchnadamphwhere the bones of animals native to the area before the last Ice Age were found during an excavation. Adventurous sorts will enjoy exploring the nearby Culag wood, exploring the Five Mountains (Suilven, Arkle, Foinaven, Stack and Quinag), trekking at the Free Spirit Riding Centre and embarking on the Kylesku Boat Tripsto visit the highest waterfall in Britain. The crofting village of Scourie lies close by, and is in an area famed for its rugged beauty, left free from modern interference. Situated at the heart of Scotland’s only Geopark and with a landscape formed by glacial erosion and the passage of time, the area presents a unique mixture of landscapes that provide a relaxing break from modern life for many visitors.

Lorraine has been with TS Properties for three years and is impressed by the ease of use the organization provides to the customer. TS Properties prides itself on its simple, easy to use booking and navigation systems, and its priority attention to the clients who use the organization’s services. Lorraine also enjoys that, under the fullest management option, she is free from dealing with the booking and payment aspects of running a self-catered property. Under this option TS Properties takes full responsibility for the running of the property and for dealing with guests. This allows the owners to relax in the knowledge that their property is being well looked after without the worry that comes from the year round care of holiday lets.

You can find Lorraine’s property listed here. Keep an eye on the website and on our social media channels for resources for owners coming soon.
